The age old question of "What do you want to be when you grow up?" is asked a lot in the course of a child's life. We routinely explore the idea that one day students will be tasked with finding careers and jobs that hopefully interest them. When asked as a child, the responses we get are usually more pure and sincere. They are not choosing something because of money or location, rather they are following their hearts.

In my class numerous students have talked about being a YouTuber. You might be asking yourself, "What exactly is a YouTuber?" A YouTuber is someone who makes videos and posts them on the popular video site.

I am always looking for ways to engage students so I decided to write an article about being a YouTuber as a career. My class loved it! We have been working on close reading skills all year and this was great practice! Each time we read the article more rich discussion happened. Being a YouTuber requires creativity and our discussions allowed students to really think about some interesting, forward thinking ideas.
